U.S. Special Operations Command Change of Command Ceremony

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – U.S. Special Operations Command will host a change of command ceremony at the Tampa Convention Center on Tuesday, August 30, at 3:30 p.m. Outgoing commander, Army Gen. Richard D. Clarke, will relinquish command to Army Gen. Bryan P. Fenton.

The event will be officiated by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and attended by senior defense leaders from around the world, USSOCOM's component commanders and other distinguished visitors.

Clarke will retire after more than 38 years of military service. Fenton will take over as the 13th Commander of USSOCOM after previously serving as the Commander of Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.
