Sovereign Challenge is a USSOCOM strategic international engagement program initiated in 2004, focused on preserving the sovereignty of independent nations and examining how extremist threats can violate that sovereignty. The program enables networking around the Washington based Defense attaché and diplomatic corps, with other officials, professionals, academics and experts from the special operations, security and foreign policy community, to counter violent extremism and enhance security within the global environment. The cornerstone annual conferences are synchronized with a series of smaller seminars and engagements, designed and executed to advance relationships, understanding and innovative networks to support security programs promoted within the foreign defense, legal attaché, and diplomatic communities.
Develop and employ a series of phased strategic engagements with DC-based Foreign Defense Attachés and associated diplomats and experts, and establish and sustain relationships with these officials and influential Sovereign Challenge alumni, to develop a trusted network serving the interests of sovereign nations and their security. Generate opportunities and relationships for US military and government officials to cooperate and collaborate with candid and credible international representatives, through shared understanding of, and respect for national policies and ideas on sovereignty, security, and associated threats.
