- ASSISTANCE WITH ADVANCED BAH
- When allowed by Service regulations, a Service Member’s losing unit commanding officer, designee, or designated official may authorize an Advance BAH payment to pay advance rent, security deposits, or initial expenses due to occupying other than Government housing. An Advance BAH payment may be authorized at any time during a Service Member’s tour at the location concerned or when a Service Member’s has relocated due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) order. Repayment of any Advance BAH should be at a rate of at least one twelfth of the amount advanced in equal monthly installments for the next 12 months.
- If E5 or below without dependents and requesting advanced Dislocation Allowance please email J1NVElem@socom.mil for authorization letter to get advance approved by current command.

- ARRANGE TRANSPORT OF VEHICLE (IF REQUIRED)
- SCHEDULE FLORIDA DRIVERS LICENSE / VEHICLE REGISTRATION APPPOINTMENTS (IF REQUIRED)
STEP 3: NOT LATER THAN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
- CONTACT PERSONNEL ELEMENT TO SCHEDULE DATE/TIME FOR INPROCESSING
- REGISTER FOR REQUIRED TRAINING
- Joint Special Operations University: https://www.jsou.edu/
- Register for an JSOU account, enroll in Introduction to Special Operations Forces - Distance Learning (DL). After completing the above-mentioned course, enroll in USSOCOM Staff Education Program – Foundations course (in resident) during dates after your arrival at USSOCOM.
- COLLECT DOCUMENTS FOR INPROCESSING
- PCS orders with transfer stamp.
- Flight Itinerary for member and dependents (If applicable).
- Messing non-availability letter (If applicable).
- Government travel card balance and travel advance balance (If applicable).
- Other applicable documents (marriage certificate, divorce decree, and/or child custody agreement)
- ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR INPROCESSING
- Lodging receipts for lodging in vicinity of last PDS and new PDS. If not military lodging provide Certificate of Non-availability (CNA).
- Receipts for claims over $75 (baggage, taxi, etc).
- Lodging receipts for TDY stops in orders.
- SIGN DOCUMENTS AND COMPLETE TRAINING FOR NIPR LAN ACCOUNT
- COMPLETE ADDITIONAL TRAINING FOR SIPR LAN ACCOUNT
STEP 4: UPON ARRIVAL
- MEET SPONSOR
- Coordinate a date/time to meet your sponsor at the USSOCOM Visitor Center 7701 Tampa Point Blvd, Tampa, FL 33621 (Bldg. 501-E, Room 120).
- OBTAIN TEMPORARY SECURITY BADGE
- USSOCOM Visitor Center, Security Management Office (SMO) 7701 Tampa Point Blvd, Tampa, FL 33621will issue a temporary badge for USSOCOM building access until you are fully in-processed, but not for more than 30 days.
- COMPLETE INPROCESSING WITH J1 SERVICE ELEMENT BY SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT IF NOT ALREADY DONE BETWEEN 0930-1500. EMAIL J1NVElem@socom.mil TO SCHEDULE.
- Obtain billet number to get official security badge
- Obtain check-in sheet
- SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT WITH SSO FOR INDOC (TS/SCI ONLY)
- REGISTER FOR NEXT AVAILABLE FFR BRIEFING
- COMPLETE FINANCE DOCUMENTS -- SMARTVOUCHER (CAC REQUIRED)
- COMPLETE PPM WITH TRANSPORTATION OFFICE (IF APPLICABLE)
