Thirty-two years ago: Remembering the tragedy at the Beirut Marine Barrack
MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- It was a Sunday morning, and at precisely 6:22 a.m., on the 23rd day of October 1983, a suicide bomber drove a truck laden with more than 2,000 pounds of compressed gas-enhanced explosives into the Marine compound in Beirut, Lebanon.
