Description: This intense two-week course prepares SOF practitioners for design thinking during complex planning and resourcing efforts. Students apply the design thinking processes to a complex scenario through small group exercises, tailored lessons, and advanced readings. Using critical and creative thinking, graduates will be able to participate on design teams that better inform leaders’ decision-making.
Audience: Action officers from USSOCOM, the TSOCs, and the components who will participate in special operations design teams.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Design Thinking and at least six months experience as a participant on SOF design teams is recommended for the course.
Text and Material: Students will be expected to read 10-15 pages each night and then apply them during class. Students are expected to present reasoned analysis of their conclusions in a small group setting. In addition, students will be assigned an article before the first day of class and then be expected to present a five-minute synopsis and a written one-page executive summary of their assigned article to the class the morning of day three.
